      Franklin Academy is a public comprehensive secondary school with approximately
  Jerry Griffin   ninety faculty members serving 900 students, grades 9-12. The school district
  Principal   encompasses approximately 366 square miles, with the high school located in the
      rural village of Malone, New York. Malone is conveniently located for social and 
  Lori Tourville   recreational needs. The Lake Placid Region is just over 50 miles south and Montreal is
  Assistant Principal   just over an hour's drive to the northeast. On the outskirts of Malone is a 36 hole golf 
      course and medium size ski resort.

      Curriculum
  Students are encouraged to select rigorous courses that will provide an intellectual
  Counselor Assignment   challenge, and will better prepare them for future educational and career pursuits
  A-G    Jane Dievendorf   beyond high school.
  H-O    Susan Jones-King   ~ All students are required to take a core program of studies consisting of English and
  P-Z     Richard Golden   Social Studies for 4 years, and a minimum of 3 years of Math and Science.
  ~ Students are also given the opportunity to attend a career and technical education
  program during their junior and senior years in one of the following areas: 
  CEEB/ACT Code          Auto Technology, Building Trades, Electrical Trades, Health Occupations, Child

  Advanced Placement Program
  Elementary     (K-5)        984 The Advanced Placement (AP) Program provides students with the opportunity to pursue

      students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Advanced Placement Program at

  Class of 2007   If a middle school student successfully completes a high school credit course, the 
  Four Year College 22% credit earned is used to satisfy both the credit and course requirements of graduation. 
  Two Year College 53% Grades earned are included when calculating the student's grade point average. Most
  Military   1% students complete 1 unit of study in Spanish or French. Approximately 10% of students
  Direct Employment 23% in each grade are recommended for accelerated classes in math and science based
  on grades, teacher input, and state assessments. Students may also be recommended
  to take Honors classes in English and Social Studies.
  Testing Information Dual Enrollment Courses
  FA Students are offered the opportunity to earn college credit through articulation
  SAT   agreements with North Country Community College, Paul Smith's College, St. Lawrence
  2006-2007   University, and SUNY Plattsburgh. The dual enrollment courses (listed below) meet
      Critical Reading 508 both high school and college course requirements. Students take these courses at the

  2005-2006   22.0 This is a competitive, half day health career exploration program affiliated with Alice Hyde 
  2004-2005   22.5  Medical Center offered to 12th graders who have completed a minimum of 3 credits of Math 
  ______________________________ and Science. Participants take English 12, Economics, Government, Anatomy & Physiology 
      and do clinical rotations in all hospital departments. Students have the option of completing
  Regents Diploma   college credits as well during this program. In the afternoon, students participating in this

    sounds, women's chorus and jazz band, are computed to determine an unweighted class
