Welcome to the Malone Central School District. Malone’s Schools are Malone’s future and the entire staff is committed to providing each student with an educational experience that maximizes their potential, so that Malone's future will be bright and prosperous. To achieve these desired outcomes, we have a comprehensive Pre-k through grade 12 program of instruction, as well as, high quality co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. A central aspect of our program relies on partnering with the families we serve and the community at large.

Our primary school, Davis Elementary, provides a warm and supportive environment for students to start their educational experience.  A full curriculum with an emphasis on early intervention ensures that all students have the opportunity to maximize their potential and to prepare for the upper elementary experience. 

Two schools provide instruction to students in grades 3-5. Flanders Elementary and St. Joseph’s Elementary are both located in the Village

of Malone, with each serving approximately half of the students in the district.  The program at these buildings maintains a student centered approach providing developmentally appropriate intermediate level instruction.  Malone Middle School serves students in grades 6-8 utilizing a full Middle School concept, while students in grades 9-12 attend Franklin Academy, receiving a comprehensive high school program.

The environment you provide your child from birth until their entrance into school will impact their initial educational success as much or more than the combined efforts of you and the school staff once they start school.  Reading to your child from infancy on and talking to and with your young child will build a strong vocabulary and love of reading that are fundamental to success.  Television is a significant negative factor in a young child’s development and according to the American Academy of Pediatricians, television should not be viewed by children under two and should be very limited thereafter.  Providing opportunities for active play and adult interaction are critical for your child’s development.

Once your child enters school, involvement in your child’s education can come in many forms. Setting high expectations for your child is critical to their success.  Ensuring regular attendance and monitoring your child’s work on a daily basis will build a solid foundation for success. Maintaining contact with your child’s teacher or teachers will also maximize the opportunity for your child to excel. Continue to read to your child or have your child read to you on a daily basis.  Continue to place limits on television viewing to minimize the negative impact.

Parents and community members are encouraged to participate in parent-teacher organizations, on school improvement committees and other ad-hoc committees.  Community support through attendance at concerts, plays, games, etc. is beneficial to a student’s development and provides a cultural and entertainment opportunity for community members.
